iStock accepts high quality jpg photos, Flash, vector illustrations, and video. Content is purchased with iStock credits and the credit value of every file is determined by the file quality and size (For example, the pixel dimensions of a digital photograph).
Artists earn a royalty on every credit used to download their file.

Submit your photos to Shutterstock and get paid every time one of your photos is downloaded. Web designers, magazine editors, and other graphic artists purchase monthly subscriptions to Shutterstock to download photos from our site.
Shutterstock is different than other stock models. Buyers subscribe on a monthly basis and can download up to 750 images over the course of 30 days. Your cut? Shutterstock will pay you 25 cents every time one of your images is downloaded. Once you reach $500 in earnings, your commission goes up to 30 cents per download. Our subscription model encourages buyers to download a greater volume of images than they would at most other agencies.
